64 32 bit

I just put together a new pc. Now, I'm not sure if i should install vista 64bit or 32 bit. I want to use that pc for gaming (I cannot afford a good video card). This is the list of part i put together:
Mobo: C19-A SLI 1.0A Processor: Pentium D 805 2.66mhz (Dual core, in my clean xp-sp2 intallation it shows up as 2 2.66mhz processors) Mem: 2GB 4200 533 PQI Video Card: 3D Fuzion PCI Gforce 6200 128mb (I also have a PCI ATI 9250 256MB, which one u think will perfom oc better?) Dell 2005 20" widescreen 1600x1250

64bit, but remember, is a Beta and expire on June 2007.

You didn't mention what hard drives you have. If you have two available partitions or drives, I would install both editions. If both video cards support true 3D rendering and DirectX 9, then either one will be fine.
If you just want to see what Vista is all about and have a lot of XP apps you want to run on Vista Beta 2 and can only install one OS, install x86.
If you plan to actually do true beta testing and file lots of bug reports, MS probably needs you to use x64. Only about 5% of the testing base is using x64.

Three Points
1) If you want to use this computer as your main computer, it is a poor choice. Vista Beta 2 is a Beta. It is not stable. You probably will not be able to keep it running for long.
2) Some members of this newsgroup are reporting that some games will run on Vista, but my impression, is that most games won't run on Vista.
3) If you don't have a particular reason for testing x64, it is probably not a good choice, Fewer drivers, and fewer software programs are compatible with x64 than with x32.

I have to disagree about the games. Some will not run on x64 that run OK on x86. I have found few games that would not install and run (even if using compat mode was necessary to install).

As to your point (3), I would advocate the opposite view. The purpose of beta testing is to find as many problems as possible so I would choose the edition with the most deficiencies so as to be able to provide MS with a larger number of bug reports. Keep in mind that the purpose of the beta program is not to provide users with a new desktop OS for regular use but to get as much feedback as possible as to what works and does not work.

According to the original post he wants to play games, he doesn't say anything about testing. That is why point no (1) was that Vista is a poor choice for anything but testing.

listen from what i understand ...VISTA IS NO GOOD for games .Just aero will take up 500 mb of space on it and neither versions have that good of drivers i recomend if u want 2 play games use xp but if you but if u want to ...go for it use it and use the x64 just remember the 32 has mor drivers

For a main OS on your gaming PC, Vista shouldn't be your first option. At this time anyway. It is still in Beta stage. You WILL have bugs and issues with it. That is the nature of betas. You WANT to have bugs, and you need to report them. This gets the bugs fixed. If you want to play with Vista, go with a 64-Bit version on a second partition. Use XP 32bit as your main OS. You'll be much happier with the performance and stability.
64 Bit Vista has enough video, sound drivers to be usable in a gaming machine. Speed, crashing, and other bugs may come out, though. It does work, and to me it works great for gaming. However, bugs are to be expected.

Also like its been said so many time, This vista beta is not performance / memory optimized. So it actually can run game much worse then XP.
The video drivers are also not fully optimized yet and that play a role.
And overall vista and some game experience instability...
My advice... dont play MMORPG with Vista, people on your team will hate you :)

Your processor is EM64T capable; it will run the 64 version but it will run it much slower than an AMD64.
